sweet Georgia

Wow! In Atlanta for work and had to stop by sweet Georgia's Juke Joint- this fried chicken had the best crust yummy... And the collard greens and Mac and cheese was great too... Topped off with sweet tea :) I'm one happy southern girl .

This restaurant was rated high on urban spoon and well deserved... Still working though so I have to head back and finish up a skit with Travel Leaders- this little jaunt was a great idea- sign me happy in Georgia.

A shot of coffee, Relay, relax,

Had a great cup of coffee this morning with my husband... It was coffee, Hazlenut, peanut butter, and chocolate... Yummy way to start the day... That and a great sunrise! Then headed out to Relay for Life for the ACR... My friend Britt and I painted faces and designed wacky hair for participants... Thanks for inviting us Anne McDevitt!!! And finished off the day at the dark park ... Where the moon was huge, Saturn was humongous and Venus was gorgeous. Met some new friends along the moonlight stroll... Brian, Patricia and her dog Macie, a red fox lab.... Fun night!

Up North

I'm working and playing in northern Michigan.  Last night I attended an incredible concert in Bay View, Michigan.  The artists were piano students, the youngest 12... ALL incredible and talented students.  They performed works from Beethoven, Brahms, Scarlatti, and one of my favorites:  Ravel.
Keep in mind a young 19-year-old by the name of Ming Xio, WOW!  My friend Amy Rosacker met him by her cottage during the week of study - she invited him in and Ming has become a friend.  Amy was so stoked when Ming played her old upright or "vintage" piano as she fondly refers to the cottage keyboard.  She is certain that one day soon she will have the opportunity to tell this story about how the famous pianist Ming Xio played her piano!

Always fun up north.  It's been cold weather but the sun has just peeked out and it's time to play some tennis.  LOVE it.

Memorial Day Moore

The nation salutes our military today - those that have served our country to enable all of us to enjoy the freedoms of this country. And today I encourage you that read this to exercise your right to give ... To those in need.

I'll be returning home today but it's hard for me to think of my home when so many here have none. It's been a humbling experience, but an inspirational one as well. The teachers who sheltered their students by covering them with their own bodies, the teachers who sang louder than the whirling debris above them and thus helped their charges tune out the fear, the volunteers that showed up in a neighborhood to cut down mangled trees, or hundreds that showed up to clean a cemetery or the infamous Orr Farm- an OK City area icon. There were the construction guys that moved vehicles out of our cameras way so we were able to show you the devastation, there were the oil and gas company employees who served the media brisket and pork chops and anyone else that needed a meal, and there was the little Italian woman who stopped to tell me she was a new American citizen and how proud she was to be an American because these people's spirit was unsinkable and she wanted to be part of that!
God Bless America, and God Bless Moore.
